INDUCTION ::::::::::::::::::> DAY ONE

Ann, Carol, Muita, Sitawa and Emily
We were expected to be in the office by 9 am on the 4th of March 2014. We were so excited to have clinched this lifetime opportunity to join the BasicNeeds Kenya family.
Induction started at around 10 am, and we began by bonding over a cup of tea and some lovely hot mandazi offered to us by the very lovely Eunice.

We then came down to business and began by filling out questionnaires that touched on our web presence, mental health knowledge as well as support and advocacy.

We were then tasked with the activity of forming our ‘departments’ and coming up with creative activities that we intended to engage in during our internship period. It was so cool cracking our brains on how we would create our own departments to head and coming up with activities that would make this whole new journey, full of fun and intrigue.

After much deliberation, the following ‘departments’ were created and given their respective heads:

  • Ø  Program Administrator –Emily (now known as Miss Maybe, Prefect, and Admin
  • Ø  Social work-The lovely Miss Ann aka Shanstyvs (lol)
  • Ø  Research and Policy- Miss Carol (the ka lawyer in our troop)
  • Ø  Social media and content- Muita
